Friday night. Your mates all drop into the pub after a long work week and order a pint. Jake talks about how his boss keeps nagging him about this boring report and Will is maxed out on his tolerance for idiocy, courtesy of one his colleagues. You deserve a break, guys, and there’s no better place to swap tired for excited than London.

Win a trip to London

We have an amazing competition where you could win a trip to London for two.

For now, here’s ten things to do in the capital on a weekend out with the lads.

1.       Catch a football match.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers. No city in the UK has more Premier League clubs than London so a proper weekend must include some football action. The stadiums usually fill up quickly, so make sure you bag some tickets on time. Unless you want to take the chance and buy them off the dodgy guy lurking at the entrance.

2.       Try your luck at the casino.

The Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square has no less than five floors that cater to all kinds of gaming, from roulette to blackjack. Definitely worth checking out is the new Lola’s Underground Casino hosted in – you guessed it – the basement. With its tempting Go-Go Girls, it will remind you of Vegas but the trip is cheaper. Well, depending on your luck at the tables.

3.       Go Karting.

At full speed. Not only does Team Sport’s Tower Bridge have two tracks over two floors that can be merged into one, they use electric eco karts. Because they are much lighter than others, you can really ramp it up and get some lightening manoeuvres out of the steering wheel. Time for some healthy competition, lads!

4.       Bust a move at Fabric.

Plenty of ladies to woo with your cracking dance skills at this famous nightclub. The party really seems to never end with a blend of garage, house and techno blasting until 7am on Saturdays and 8am on Sundays. You’ll often get big names DJing for the night in one of Fabric’s three rooms. Whatever DJ is on, you can bet he knows his stuff.

5.       Enjoy some stand-up comedy.

All the greats have a stop in London on their tour so you’re sure to find a show to suit your comic tastes, be it John Bishop, Jimmy Carr or Lee Mack. The venue you’ll see hosting most of the shows is the renowned Eventim Apollo. For those who think fame is overrated, there’s plenty of other opportunities. Perfect for getting rid of work stress if you ask us!

6.       Eat gorgeous steak.

Nothing like a fabulous piece of meat grilled to perfection to set you up for the evening. Many people argue that Argentinian steaks are the very best so head to Gaucho for dinner. There’s several branches dotted around London which is handy but, if you prefer a view, pick the one near Tower Bridge. We’ve been there before. We didn’t want to leave.

7.       Play urban golf

Who wants all the hassle of trudging around carrying clubs when you can play 52 of the world’s greatest golf courses while barely having to stretch your legs? Enter Urban Golf Soho that offers several indoor golf simulators for your entertainment. The bar serves both food and drink so you really don’t have to get off your ass. Now that’s what we call a ‘whole-in-one’.

8.       Go whisky tasting.

We love beer but a weekend in the capital calls for something more. The Golden Arrow bar at the Pullman Hotel will certainly do the job with more than 200 whiskies to choose from. They also do monthly tastings if you like a challenge but we’d recommend booking a room while you’re at it. A bed within crawling distance could be a necessity rather than a luxury.

9.       Climb the O2.

You heard us. You can actually scale the dome of this arena and make your mates jealous with some great pictures once you’ve reached the top. Up at the O2 expeditions are available both during the day and at night and the view from the observation platform is amazing. Make sure you do this before the whisky tasting, though. It’s a long way down.

10.   Have a laugh at the Guards.

That’s right, we’re urging you to pay a little visit to Buckingham Palace. These guys have to work during the weekend while you get to paint the town, so it’s the ultimate place to go and feel smug. And then there’s those bearskin hats. Need we say more?

What are your suggestions for a perfect weekend in London with your mates? There are 52 weekends in a year and surely at least a couple should be ours to do as we please.
